Working alongside 22 volunteers from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, we successfully distributed, sorted, and organized more than 500 pounds of food donations for the Network of Community Ministries on October 30th. Furthermore, several volunteers contributed their efforts to sort and arrange items in the thrift store.
The 2024 Senior Health Fair, a beacon of community health and wellness, took place on October 24th at the Willie Johnson Recreation Center. This event was a resounding success, drawing over two hundred individuals who engaged with a wealth of resources ranging from medical information to Medicare supplemental guidance.
Attendees also learned crucial emergency response strategies. With over twenty-eight vendors, including key divisions within Dallas County, the city of Dallas, major insurers, and other healthcare providers, the fair offered a comprehensive overview of services and support available to seniors.
The fair not only served as a hub for information but also as a testament to the community's commitment to the well-being of its senior members. It stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when public and private sectors unite for a common cause.
Truly, it was an event that many have benefited from and will remember for its positive impact on their lives.
